Liechtenstein will debut in Eurovision 2011
Liechtenstein: 1FL expects "good chances" for Eurovision debut
It is becoming certain that the Eurovision Song Contest family will welcome a new member in 2011: Liechtenstein. The country's broadcaster 1FL TV submitted the membership application to the EBU yesterday.
Mr Peter Kölbel, managing director of 1FL TV, has told esctoday.com that he expects "good chances that Liechtenstein will already take part in 2011 Eurovision". The broadcaster submitted their membership application to the EBU yesterday and expect to become a full member of the organisation in the near future.
This would allow the microstate to join the Eurovision family next year. Neighbouring Austria has already stated its intentions to return to the competition in Germany.
The method the country would follow in order to choose its 2011 representative might well be a major international casting, as Mr Peter Heeb of 1FL TV revealed, similar to Germany's Unser Star für Oslo.
The national final would feature 10 of those candidates, not necessarily from the country. The selection would run through different tv broadcasters.
